A "Pretty" Good Reason

Our sweet little Christmas Cactus decided to bloom this week. I was wondering why it had waited until the new year to blossom, and as I was staring at the beautiful, vibrant color of the flowers, the reason became very obvious!

It had been patiently waiting to join the Pantone color of the year 'Honeysuckle' party!

Now I know there is a pinkier version of this color floating around out there (what's that all about?), but this one matched so perfectly that I decided to go with it, plus...I have another post all lined up using the pink one! I'm sure the Pantone police will get to the bottom of it all soon enough, so until then...both versions are fine with me.

There weren't very many blooms this year (I think it's ready for a real pot), but enough to add a nice pop of color to the little conservatory corner we have going on in the kitchen, which also started me thinking about what might be nice to put there during the spring and summer months.

So way to be trendy little cactus, you knew what you were doing all along!

I like your Christmas cactus. The color of the flower along with its delicate leafy petals are divine. I forgot how a throny cactus can bloom such delicate flowers.

What a great plant, the colour of the flowers is beautiful. I have seen the pinkier version of Honeysuckle around too. I wonder which is the 'real thing'! Rachaelxx

She is a beauty indeed! I wish I had a green thumb...the only thing still sticking with me are two African Violets.
Looks like your new year is starting off on the right {bright} foot. ;)
