Sweet Siringa

As you can tell by my last few posts I have flowers on the brain! All I can think about is the abundant floral invasion that's about to take place here in the PNW. It has been long overdue and we deserve a grand show after the wettest and coldest spring on record!

Seeing these lovelies about to burst forth on my walk the other day gave me hope that the show is about to begin. Nothing says spring so solidly here like her star flower...Miss. Lilac, which she prefers to be called over Miss. Siringa, her more fancy name. Either name will do for me...I just want to bask in her sweet scent and enjoy her brief yet beautiful performance, one that I wait all year for (as I'm sure you do too).

Happy Lilac season everyone...may their blooms be long lasting for you and may their heavenly scent permeate your homes, walks, and gardens throughout the rest of this normally very lovely month!

I love lilacs! This season my lilac bush did not produce any flowers. I have to read up about what plant food they need; the soil may be missing something.
Lovely photos - thanks for sharing.

Hello Jessica:
Yes, spring does seem to have taken her time in appearing in the Pacific Northwest. But, hopefully, the blooms on the Lilac trees will be bigger and better as a result. They do scent the house beautifully and, in many ways, their fleeting beauty makes them all the more endearing.

Happy Weekend!

Ivy...I hope you get to enjoy buckets full!xo

A&A...I'm so sorry you missed yours...lilac's need to be more like hydrangea's and last throughout the summer, it's just not fair that their stay is so short! xo

PurpleFlowers...I know lilac's can be tricky, their care confuses me, I'll have to read up on them when we get a few of our own. Hope you figure out what happened with yours! xo

Megan...They'll be pretty with your 'borrowed' crab apples! ;)

Jane&Lance...I love your positive attitude! All this rain *must* be good for them...right?!

Sarah...Don't you just wish??! xo

You deserve it. Spring is so important, it is such a beautiful season. And you had a lot of rain, oh, I feel sorry for all you people.

In Holland on the contrary it was almost summer. It was hot. There was a fire alarm, there was a big fire, no rain at all. And that while Holland is "famous" for its rain.

But the flowers, the floworing trees, the beautiful seringa, great, great, great, all the other flowers. I saw also roses as well.....

I wish you a lot of beautty and happinezz with the flowers in Washington.

And thank you about your nice words to my Historical women.

And i received your answer. Please, if you want to count the seconds before the Bronte Sisters starts on another computer, I will be grateful.

O.K., I am envious. Lilacs are my most favorite flowers in the world! When we lived in Michigan and New York, I had huge lilac bushes right outside my bedroom windows. The fragrance is intoxicating.

Thank you so much for voting for me! I am beyond excited to make it into the top 100. Also rhubarb with pie crust...yum.
