Victorian Christmas Stocking Recipe~

Well, we did it! We made and hung our stockings with great care, decorated our mantels...and had a jolly good time doing so, if I do say so myself! Mr. 24 even joined us and played paper-scissor elf, which was an enormous help!

My students are absolute angels, and a few of them graciously allowed me to keep their festive fireplaces for one week so that I could deck the halls with them, and give the whole local world a chance to see their adorable stockings and enjoy the warmth of their pretty fires.
We have one more class together before Christmas break and I want their last picture of the year to be just as fun as this one was...I'm thinking polar bears & presents might do the trick...and maybe a touch of sparkle!
BTW...I had the most amazing day yesterday with two very special ladies whom you all know and love...it was like a dream...I hope to share it with you very soon!

Alls I can do is smile! Your students art just makes my heart sing. Art brings out all that's good in children and in us mature types!
You've brought back so many good thoughts of what it felt like to create those Christmas art projects that made me feel so proud to show my parents. Children truly are a gift from God.
As for how I felt about finally having the magnificent opportunity to meet you and meet Pam, well..it's hard to put into words. You both are everything I expected, and so much more. To be in such a magical place like Red Ticking just contributed to the whole afternoon feeling incredibly surreal. I thank you and Pam from the bottom of this gals heart ♥ You are such special women.
x Deb
the luminous smiles and bright eyes of the kids makes it all so wonderful!
So nice to see you again...sharing your love of art to the younger generation. I love their art and their proud poses. You're teaching them so many good things!
Those are such cute illustrations.
Fabulous artwork as usual! Have a terrific Christmas, Fifi
Deb...You couldn't have said it better, yesterday *was* magical and surreal, and I am still smiling from it...a beautiful gift of a day, one that I will treasure forever...you're pretty special yourself you know! ♥
And it makes me happy that the artwork is bringing back such sweet memories for you, I hope that my students will feel the same way when they grow up, it would mean the world, and make it all worthwhile. xoxo
IvyLane...Those smiles and eyes are the best part!!! xo
PurpleFlowers...Thank you! I love having them pose with their artwork, it gives them an extra boost and helps to let them know how truly well they did. xo
LPC...Thank you, you nailed it with the word cute!
Fifi...You're too kind, thank you! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas as well!!xo
Hello Jessica:
At the risk of repeating ourselves, you really do have an enormous talent for drawing [no pun intended] out the very best from your pupils who always respond to your teaching and ideas in such an imaginative and original way.
These stockings, waiting to be filled in the manner of the Victorian instruction, are a delight with their bright use of colour and seasonal warmth.
This is so Christmassy, it's like peering into a film, I didn't know their was recipe for stockings but this sounds perfect.
I was hopeless at art at school and found it really stressful, my teacher actasully aid to my parents " worst ever pupil, just has no ability" Back in those days they were allowed to be negative!
What a sweet sweet post. I love those happy smiles and seeing all the beautiful work their talented little hands and hearts created. Enjoy!
Those are the best of times in school aren't they! What wonderful little smiles are peeking over their adorable artwork.
You students have done some wonderful drawings Jessica.....you have an obvious rapour with them which comes out in their drawings.
I look forward to seeing more of their work. XXXX
Dear Jane & Lance~ Loved your 'non-pun...thank you very much! It's amazing how they actually 'draw' creativity out of me as well...I'm always in awe of what they come up with, and have learned much about allowing the fancies and frivolities of the right brain to rule & reign when art is at hand.
xo
B&P~ My goodness...everyone has an artist lurking inside of them! I think that teacher needed a slight bit of paddling if you ask me! One of our three most important rules we go over before each class is 'It doesn't have to be perfect'...this allows for tons of freedom and creativity...so if your garland is 'sagging' on the mantel, we just figure you've hung a much to heavy stocking on it and we're just going to hope it doesn't fall into the fire...case closed. Remember Tabitha...there's always a seat with your name on it if ever you have an artful whim!
xo
Enchanted & Sarah~ Thank you! It's fun to see the smiles they have when their creations start to come alive, those are even more precious and fun (and funny!). xo
Jacqueline~ We do get along pretty well...it's such a wonderful escape from the 'real world' when we're all together, we have an ablolute blast, I'm always sad when class is over. I'll be sure to share more when it 'pops up'...thank you! xo
Absolutely wonderful holiday art...you are ALL so talented!! WOW!
