A Sweet Mug

Well here she is...my constant companion and bestie, Miss. Ginger. A closer view of her 'mug' had been requested by my buddy Brock Street after seeing her from afar in the Daisy post, and since I'm leaving for California today (to spend some time with Gitzi), I had thought this would be a good time to post her sweet face...that way she could keep an eye on the blog while I'm away.

But this has turned into a very bittersweet post because yesterday, I read about how our beautiful blogging friend Nita from A Mod Vintage Life lost her beloved Doxie Newman very unexpectedly this past week. Her heart is completely devastated and broken...and in need of some serious care and love, which thank heavens she is receiving in droves by this wonderful and amazing blogging community.

So I would like to dedicate this post to her, and to dear Newman. Dachshund's are such a special breed (I truly believe all breeds, mixed or pure are very special ♥) in the fact that they really become attuned to your personality, a great bond develops, and hearts become very close. It's astounding how intelligent they are actually, there is real communication with a Doxie...they become extremely attached...and so do you, despite their very stubborn & silly ways, which actually end up being quite endearing.

So my thoughts and prayers are with Nita today...as I can imagine the loss she is experiencing.

Some of you may already know that Ginger is our 'surrogate pup'...she's with us most days of the week and we have sleep-overs quite often as well. She and her momma have been an enormous blessing in our lives and we're so thankful for them...they have truly been a gift, more than they'll ever know. They came into our lives just as we were getting ready to build 24C, the timing was perfect as we were going to be gypsies for a while and wouldn't be able to have pets of our own until settle once again.

Having Miss. Ginger around ended up being such a comfort during all the drama of 24's construction...she wiggled her way into our hearts, wrapped us around her cute little paw...and brought so much joy amidst severe trials that I can't imagine what the last five years would have been like without her. She is very dearly loved.

And I am going to miss her terribly while I'm gone.

That is a lot of information in one blog.

This sweet dog and the bound between you. I am fond of animals, I have a cat. She is also the light of our eyes, naughty and sweet.

Then the message that you are going to California. Are you going on a holiday? That is far from where you are living, isn't it?

And then your sadness for your blogging friend Nita. It is great, people can comfort each other, even when they are far away from each other or know each other through blogging. Your sadness will give her comfort, I am sure.
Greetings from Geri

Sorry, the language. Bound, I mean bond, is this correct English?

what a wonderful and touching post. the bond btwn animals and humans is unlike anything else. they say when we are petting and snuggling and talking with these little beings...endorphins are being passed between us. i totally blv that as i do find a calm when the mo is around.
glad you and ginger found each other...it was destiny.
thanks for the post..i love the first photo the most...the intellect, the kindness, the emotion in those eyes is so real. i wish the mo and ginger could meet one day. :)
now, down to business. where in the world in california are you heading? are you coming north or south? brockstreet would love to take you out on the town or to hillside...or just to coffee.
i have found some great coffee places in san fran (nothing like seattle though), but we can show you a fun time in sf. you keep me posted.

the only trouble with dogs is they dont live long enough. it's just awful they have such short lives. even cats have much longer ones!

yours is adorable!!

thanks for your comment on my blog - i loved it!

Oh my word! Miss Ginger! Such a pretty baby and those soulful eyes...They melt my heart.

I'm certain she missed you as much as you missed her, dear heart.

I feel so sad for Nita. Many of us know only too well how hard it is to lose our beloved pet. I'm still not over the loss of our dear departed puppy, Maggie Mae. She was a much loved member of our family, and lived a long life. Though the pain of losing her is still with me after 7 years. I'll be thinking of Nita...
