On a recent, beautiful sunny day...I thought it would be nice to take some pictures of our long awaited daisies, so I asked my sweet little companion Miss. Ginger, a.k.a. - my shadow, to wait on the stoop for me until I was finished as I didn't want her so near the street.
She very happily obliged since it gave her the opportunity to have a little sunbathing session, which from the looks of it...she seemed to be enjoying very much.
Well once I had spotted her there so contentedly lounging in the sun, my attentions immediately turned from taking pictures of the daisies, to trying to take pictures of Ginger...without her knowing of course, hence the spy pictures from behind the daisies.
She caught on to me soon enough though and realized that it was she, and not the daisies, who had become my muse. I love her squinty look here, but I think she would have preferred to have some cute little sunglasses on.By the way...the door knob and welcome mat are just temporaries. The actual door knob has disappeared into the constructional ether...and I haven't as of yet been able to come across a mat that has spoken to me. So in the mean time, the little green & pokey astro turf one will have to do. I must say though, it has been surprisingly functional in our inclement weather at keeping out all the mud and forest debris, and obviously...Miss. Ginger likes how it feels on her belly!
All was not completely lost in 'daisy-land' though...I did manage to get the image above, and now only have to await another sunny day to try again....and hopefully, Miss. Ginger will be there to once more distract me with her sunbathing skills, while I try to capture the bright, happy faces of one of my most beloved summer flowers.

Very beautiful! That first photo is really great. Daisies are special, I agree.
Miss Ginger is a smart dog. Your garden is beautiful and those daisies so simple yet timeless and so elegant. Your home is welcoming and inviting.

Hello Jessica:
The Shasta Daisies are very pretty indeed. They always look so cheerful in our view and make a very welcoming show at the entrance to your house for visitors.
Miss Ginger is adorable and clearly loves to pose. Clearly, at the sound of a clicking camera, she is at the ready!
what pretty pictures-I do love daisies. Do you have ginger planted as well as Miss? the fragrance is wonderful-know you would love love love it. pgt
LPC...Thank you! I hope the daisies are still here when the sun 'does' come back so that I can attempt a few more...it's feeling very fall-like here at the moment. xo
Helen...Yes she is! Our main goal was for the home to be welcoming, so thank you. To be honest, the rest of the garden needs loads of work...we're still not out of the construction phase so I have to be very strategic with my camera! xo
Jane&Lance...Cheerful is the perfect word for daisies, that describes best how I feel when looking at them!
And yes, Miss. Ginger 'always' knows when that cmaera is trained upon her...even from behind daisies! xo
Gaye...Thank you! And I've never even thought of planting Ginger...I love the idea and am very intrigued now. What a perfect plant to have in the garden, I don't think I've ever seen one though...I'm sure the little 'Miss' would think it's very special...you are so clever! xo
pretty pictures and I love Miss Ginger!!
Target can have some fun mats if you haven't looked there. I got mine from Ikea- simple (no design) rush mats... inexpensive too!
happy Sunday!
missing the NW today;)

What beautiful daisies.
It is so hot here (South Texas), I am having a hard time keeping things alive.
Enjoyed visiting-
I am a new follower.

They are so pretty!!!!!!Love them and MISS GINGER!!!!! The look on her face is so cute...Maryanne xo
Joan...I haven't checked either Target or Ikea yet, great ideas, I kinda stepped away after coming across too many 'cheesy' ones. Love the idea of the rush mat...it sounds perfect actually, thank you!! The NW has been struggling this summer...because we haven't had one! It feels like spring now...I wonder if that means fall will feel like summer?! Have a great week! xo
Laura...Thank you very much for the visit and the follow, so nice to meet you!! I'm freezing and have two sweaters on right now...I don't know what's worse, over-heating in the summer or over-chilling! Hope you get some relief soon. xo
Maryanne...Thank you!!! I wish I could've gotten a close-up of Ginger with her squinting ways...she caught on to me too quickly though...maybe next time I can be a bit more stealthy! ;)
xo
lovely daisies.... so abundant...
you will never know how special it is to see you on sunday mornings...
and when i return... dinner!
have fun at camp... wish i could be there!
xx
I love daisies. And you have a lot of them. I read for a welcome, well it must give you and your guest a big smile to enter your house. And wat a clever and sweet dog you have.
Love your daisies! It's hard not to feel carefree and happy when you see such an abundant cluster as yours. Do you by chance recall the plastic green grass door mats with the daisy in the corners from the 70's? I saw one recently...might be fun until you find the one you love!
Gorgeous daisies! And I agree that it is a challenge finding doormats that speak ;) Seriously tho, I too can never seem to find good looking ones that actually function as they should here in our neck of the woods. Should I find one, I will promptly post it on my blog...and, should you find one, I hope you will do likewise! Meanwhile, beautiful photos and oh-so-cute doggie! :)
Pam...♥
Kleurrijk...I do hope the daisies make everyone smile when they come over...they make me smile everyday. And...Ginger says 'thank you'!!! ;)
A&A...I'm cracking up at the remembrance of those daisy covered green mats!!! How perfect...I could have daisies all year long with one of those...I'd love to know where you saw it. I wonder what Mr.24's going to think about it... ;)
Elizabeth Rose...Thank you...and it's a deal! Did you read A&A daisy doormat suggestion? What do you say?? I will if you will! ;)
And Miss. Ginger says thank you to you too! xo
Love your pretty daisies and always delighted to catch a glimpse of the fetching Ginger, even if she is a little camera shy!,
what is it about daisies and all of usn's. they always grab me and stop me in my tracks. i really feel like i rarely see them....what a treat.
now lets talk about ginger, that is like the cherry on top. i need some close ups of that mug of hers....
sorry i have been so absent from commenting, i get so selfish with my time and need to do better...cuz i love 24 corners blog.
Hello:), nice daisies!
Is Ginger a sausage dog? I see a low curvy tum there - hey she might be my kin!
I always take my mum treats, she is my best friend, I don't know what i'll do when she moves on from this world.
Quintessence...I'll be sure to tell Miss. Ginger you think she's 'fetching'...I think she'll like that (and she does fetch!)! xo
Brock St...Hi friend!! So happy you're a daisy lover too! I would love to see more of them around as well...more daisies and more carnations is what I say!!
I'll see what I can do about Ginger's mug as you've been *very* generous with B-mo's...she's a tricky one with the camera...I'll have to be extra stealthy!
And you are nowhere near selfish... so hush...that's like saying you're a hoarder, just plain silly-talk! xo
Linnea...Thank you!!
B&P...Yes, Ginger's a sausage dog, I actually call her 'little sausage' all the time! She has a gut of iron (as opposed to a will of iron), and would eat anything and everything if allowed...hence we're forever watching her 'tum'!
I feel the same way Tabitha. It's lovely though that you can visit your mum and spend so much time with her now...*and* share such scrumptious treats together (you're such a good daughter!). Mine lives in another state and I don't quite know how we'll manage in the future...hopefully I'll be able to bring her treats too (anything marzipan) if I can talk her out of the California sunshine, and into the gloomy beauty of the PNW...we'll see.
Loved seeing your beautiful 'little' face in the follows...thank you!! xo
24 Corners: Oh I love those dogs, they have the most beautiful faces, I would love get one.
My mum is the same with marzipan! I take her blocks all the time, she lived with us until about two years ago when she decided she wanted her own flat within a sheltered housing complex, it's been great for her to be around folk of her own age but it broke my heart at first. My eldest - leaving the nest!
B&P...Oh, you should get a little sausage, they are the best. Very smart, very loving...and of course, very cute! They don't like being alone much though, quite social, but they don't need to be entertained all the time, just like having company.
You're an empty nester then...and a senior one at that, your mum is so blessed to have such a daughter! I bet our marzipan ladies would get on nicely...it's a favorite treat of mine as well...we should start a club! xo
I love your daisies! Have you brought them into the house to enjoy as well? Your home look beautiful.
Annie...No I haven't! I have no idea why either...guess what I'm doing today! :D
Thank you...xo
fantastic post!
kisses,
Klaudia B.
Lovely, lovely daisies J! Mine have since had their '15 minutes of fame' and are almost on their way to flower heaven, just as soon as I get out there to deadhead. Here's a question - do you cut them right down once they've all gone brown, or just the heads right now, and then back for all the stems later towards fall?
That is just the lazy gardener in me asking, as every fall when I'm cutting them right down, I think 'shoulda just done this too when the heads went brown'!
Wishing you a happy weekend! Hi to Ginger! xo's
Kaludia...So glad you enjoyed the post, thank you! :)
Peony...Mine are now on their last 'stem' as well...and normally, we've just let the heads stay on because we like how the dried flowers look in the fall (and because we're lazy!), then we trim them down in January or February. I believe if you want continuous blooms, you should cut of the flowers as they fade...maybe we'll try that 'some day'! Ginger says hello back...xo
I do love reading your posts! They're so sweet and I do love the squinty look of Ginger when she caught on to you. Lovely shots of the daisies too! Thanks for always coming by to visit, reading your comments makes me happy and inspires me to keep drawing :)
