I'm gearing up (no pun intended but that was pretty good) for another 'Road Trip' on Monday and was hunting down some inspiration (vintage gas pumps) to mix things up a bit and found this great-but sad site called Vanishing South Georgia, by Brian Brown. It put me in a Fried Green Tomatoes/Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood type of southern mood, which I love, and made me want to figure out a way for us to take a detour through Georgia...the Georgia of the long ago, or even just the South of long ago.
The wheels are spinnin on the gravel road now...wonder where they'll end up.

Hello Jessica:
Oh, so many wonderful sights just waiting for you to discover them anew. Yes, if we were you we should be veering away from the main roads, towns and cities and unearthing these sleeping beauties! Have a wonderful time and safe return!
Hi Jessica
I can feel the bubbling anticipation as you are gearing up for this trip. The American South is truly beautiful and so many little gems of towns/villages hidden away. I love fried green tomatoes and what's Georgia without some grits n gravy?
Wishing you a great week
Helen xx

Loved both the movies and would love to visit the south someday. Nicolex
What great inspiration! Look forward to seeing where this road may lead for your budding artists!
And come on, Fried Green Tomatoes? Idgie? One of my top 10 favorite movies!
Great shot!! Will look forward to seeing the results of your road trip. And will have to pop over to check out the site.
Vanishing worlds are always sad
I do love road trips. They're one of my favorite things. I hope you make many, many happy memories, dear heart, whilst driving through the south. Safe travels!
