We Pass!

Our lovely fireplace has had us on pins and needles these last few days due to the fact that to pass our final inspection, our hearth had to be 20 inches from the firebox...well, ours was between 17 & 18 depending on which rock you measured from. So for the last few days, we've been reading code books, talking to construction attorneys, the firebox manufacturers and working up a big plan of what we're going to do to remedy the situation, needless to say, it's been a bit stressful.

So the inspector shows up today, and after Mr.24 does a fantastic job chatting him up (so proud) and I pray a zillion silent prayers...the inspector says "well, most people just get a fireproof hearth rug and that takes care of the problem".

What??? Excuse me??? Really??? That's all???

Yup.

After picking ourselves up off of the floor...we breathed the hugest (don't think that's a word) sigh of relief and realized we could now officially start to unpack...and most of all, we realized, that after four years of building this home, we truly are home.

(pictures taken about a month ago...to many boxes and moving paraphanalia around presently)

Deb~ Thank you dear! I'm sorry but I believe it wasn't all that nice when you were here was it? Well the sun is finally shining bright today and I've been inside ALL day unpacking...it did make it cheerier and I did walk out to the mail box in my bare feet for some vitamin D and fresh air...which was very-very nice.

Hope your enjoying a lovely weekend,
xxoo J~
