Okay...it's time to get my head out of the Hollywood clouds, and turn my attention towards the warm and cozy that is Autumn. Walking into a foyer such as this one would help tremendously...though I must confess, this lovely foyer belongs to a 1908 estate that lives just south of Hollywood...I'm taking baby steps.
The home, named Villa Maria, is a gorgeous example of the well preserved extravagance of a by gone era, and if you would like to explore it's historic beauty and interesting past a bit more, Floyd B. Bariscale had done a wonderfully researched post about it on his blog Big Orange Landmarks, which is devoted to what else?...the love, preservation, remembrance, and significance of the architectural gems that once dominated Hollywood and towns that surrounded it...as I said, baby steps.Wishing you all a beautifully perfect, warm, rich, and inviting Fall!

Gosh, what a lovely entryway! I can just see it with a Christmas tree!
Most houses in my area look like that, I have to say I loathe dark wood panelling and find it so depressing, 'no panelling' is always first on my list when house hunting as most of the houses with it fall under a conservation order so there's no whipping out the emulsion!
This is the austere kind of mission style I love to see in photos, but I wouldn't, necessarily want to live in.
If I owned it, I would paint everything a creamy white. But since the house is 'registered', that would be impossible.
Still, I like the warmth of it. Later this Fall, I'd love it even more. :)
I do agree. Fall = Cozy.
Pamela& Edward...I actually think Edward would look very handsome laying in the entry way, while awaiting his family's arrival home (he would look glorious against all the dark wood)...right next to the Christmas tree of course. xo
B&P...This house is characterized as a Tudor Revival, they definitley were aiming to copy 'the look' that surrounds you (lucky girl!). It seems the Victorian look is more open to being 'emulsified', don't you think? Or is that banned as well? The other rooms of this house I think were light and bright, at least partially...the kitchen is white! xo
Yvette...If I lived in such a house, the rest of it would have to be bright and cheery. I believe the kitchen in this one is, and some of the other rooms have lighter toned paint. so they must have felt the same way. xo
We need more glamour - it's the universal panacea!
My roof buckled and caved more than normal, oh for a house that didn't leak. And my car packed in and got towed and there was more - pass the cocktails.
B&P...Buckled more than normal? That does not sound good! And I'm sorry about your car...what does 'packed in' mean? That doesn't sound good at all either!
A more glamorous and smooth start to Fall is definitely needed...on all fronts!
Best with everything...
xo J~
