Artfully Winding Down

The school year is coming to an end which means that my art classes are also coming to an end, and it is always such a bittersweet and very busy time that I have quite a difficult time concentrating on much else, hence...I've been trying to pull together a wonderful kitchen-ish post for over a week now but to no avail.

What with field trips to Venice (first time for all of us!).....

Helping lost parakeets find their way home....

And learning flower growing tips from some very special master gardeners....

We've been having a very busy, yet very fun time of it, and I just haven't been able to concentrate very well on anything else!

I'm so proud of all that my students accomplished this year...they've been absolutely wonderful, and I'm going to miss them terribly (that's where the bittersweet part comes in). But now it's time to get ready for THIS crew....

The summer camp crew!!! Let the preparations begin!

Helen...Thank you so much! It was wonderful teaching the children about Venice...they were entranced by the whole water concept (of course), and how old it was...delightful to see them get so excited about it! xo

Hello Jessica:
How really talented your students are [and this we mean, and is not a casual remark]. Their work has such freshness, vitality and spirit and the range of subject matter makes for great interest. We are, we suppose, drawn [no pun here!] to those of Venice, a city which we know well and which remains one of our all time favourites.

We shall look forward to you 'kitchen' post when it arrives, but for now we are more than satisfied with this.

Dear Jane&Lance...Your comment meant so much, truly...thank you. I've feel very blessed to be around these wonderful and talented children...their creativity is astounding and *I* learn from them daily, they're are such a joy. I'm happy you enjoyed 'Venice' so much, we must 'visit' there again, as I believe it was a favorite of theirs as well. xo

YOUR talent comes through in these marvelously colorful images by your students. Not everyone can coax such creativity out of those little minds/hands. Amazing and wonderful!!!

What amazing pictures of Venice: definitely one of the best cities to draw and sketch in my opinion. I love Canaletto's work. You clearly are a great art teacher, as the children's work is just fabulous. Have a great summer too! Fifi

About the recipe: You need to push the grated peanuts down into the bottom of the blender a few times. Just let the nuts run in the blender for quite a while, and be careful about adding extra rape seed oil. A little goes a long way. Have a good weekend!

Seeing the happy faces behind the students proudly holding their art to be photographed is so adorable and brings back wonderful memories of my elementary art school days. It was my favorite class by far. My teachers were wonderfully creative and inspiring, just like you!
