The beautiful nation of Japan has been a very special destination in our classes over the years...
one that the students have continually enjoyed visiting, learning about, and becoming a part of through their creations.
A few years ago I had the honor of getting to know several Japanese people...their sweet natures and kind spirits ended up claiming residence in my heart....
and their lovely, unique culture was one I came to admire and love.I know everyone is keeping Japan in their thoughts and prayers. Please continue to do so in the days to come as the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami become more and more a reality for these dear people.

Is is unbelieveble what is happening in Japan. It is too much. All those poor people and animals.
What must they be afraid. I feel small when I see it. I wished I could help.
Sweet drawings you are showing here.
I want to thank you that you told me about the Maria Taylor mistake on the Bronte weblog. I did not read it well. I am happy you told me, I took it away.
Have a nice evening. Geri
What a wonderful blog. I loved seeing the pictures that your students have done. The world's heart goes out to Japan for sure. Kit
The pictures are beautiful. The few Japanese people I have met have all been so, so lovely. It's a terrible tragedy. Rachaelxx
Thank you for sharing the artwork from yourself and the students. Japan is so far away in distance, yet I feel so very sad for the loss of men, women and children. So sad. I keep them in my thoughts and prayers.
Yes. Absolutely.
Looks like the news is going to get worse before it gets better Jessica. Let's keep sending the white light.
thanks for posting. candles are burning for all those suffering in japan.
i cannot image what it must be like and am reminded of how delicate life is.
We are all heartbroken for the Japanese people!! The children's art is beautiful. My middle girl drew a picture one day that was called: "Way Down In China Where The Sun Might Be Prettier." It makes me smile everyday. Sharing your prayers.
Best,
Liz
The artwork of the children always touches my heart. Children always want to help and I think it's so important for them. Their hearts are always so full.
The art they'll create will most certainly bring joy to anyone it comes in contact with. Such a meaningful post Jessica. My prayers continue to go out to those in Japan. xx Deb

Oh my goodness! Those children and their artwork...it's completely delightful and enchanting. Such a contrast to our heavy hearts. My family and I cherish the Japanese culture and people. For many, many reasons.
As you know, Ron and the boy have trained in karate for years and years. We've learned so much about the culture. Something you may not know, I was taught by an extra special woman, Lucy, to knit and crochet when I was only 4 years old. Lucy was from Japan. I still remember her so clearly.
I don't think many of us can even comprehend the pain and devastation that the beautiful people of Japan are suffering, but we can help with donations. No donation is too small, right?
Thank you for sharing this endearing post, sweet J!
xoxo
A huge *thank you* to all of you for your touching comments...the magnitude of this disaster is so overwhelming and I love seeing everyone's hearts sending love, prayers, and of course, donations to Japan, it's very moving. xoxo
Dovecote...I love the title of your daughters picture, so cute. How nice that you still have it and get to see it everyday! xo
D...I'm sure the news of what happened was extra sad for your boy's class. Having that kind of a connection brought the disaster a bit closer to home.
Your story about Lucy is so special...she gave you a gift that impacted the rest of your life...we don't really know how we bless little ones sometimes with sharing of ourselves like Lucy did...if she could only see you now and what you've done with that beautiful gift...she would be so proud and happy. Ties like these to Japan and it's people really wrap themselves around the heart don't they...thanks so much for sharing. xo
