New Friends For Mayhem

Well, we're down four camps...one 'Around The World', and three 'Ocean Adventures', which so far has turned out to be my favorite, though there are two more Around The World's, which start this next week, so we'll see...it's just really hard to beat cruising around the deep sea with an Octopus as your guide!
(Stunning octopus by Sir G. ~ 10)
In the previous post you met Mayhem (I like to call her May), our local resident Octopus that for the time being, is so graciously living at the Seattle Aquarium so we can all enjoy her magnificence. The Aquarium is kind enough to keep their Octopi for only six to twelve months, then they are released back into Puget Sound to live out the rest of their very short lives (only 4-7 years) swimming about and having babies.
(Stripey octopus by Miss. M. ~ 8, Sir G's little sister)
And thanks to my amazing little artists,  May now has a bunch of new friends to swim around with once she is released. Our local waters will definitely be brightened by the presence of these lovely creatures, and when they're all done swimming about, several homes will be brightened by their presence as well.
(Lovely yellow-orange octopus by Miss. O. ~ 12)
Green spotted octopus by Miss. L. ~ 7)
(Beautiful red octopus, by Miss. R. ~ 10)
(Wonderful bright orange octopus by Miss. C. ~ 9)
(Pretty pastel octopus by Miss. A. - 7)
(Cute purple spotty octopus by Miss. E. ~ 7)
(Adorable red octopus by Miss. P. ~ 9)
In the next post I'll show you how we toured the deep with May as our guide...all while being able to stay very warm and dry...and safe!
A very happy August to all from Mayhem and her new crew...and from me of course, I'm off to Africa, China, and either Germany or France next week, both if at all possible...
Bon Voyage!

Helen~ I'm so happy that you can see all that...it's the reason we're there, for the fun & excitement of creating inspiring art! The sea creatures definitely helped in the 'enthusiasm' department too...so much fun!

Wouldn't the assorted octopuses make perfectly jolly postage stamps? I would fax them off posthaste to your National Stamp Authority so that they could linger beguilingly at the top right of envelopes.

Mise~ I see it! They would make wonderful stamps...what a smart girl you are!
I know that one can make their own stamps from their own images, my mum did it once...but to have them seen and used nationally would be special, must look into that, the kids would be thrilled. xo

The art of your students is amazing Jessica. One would think they were much, much older as their work is magnificent. You must be so proud of each one?!! I bet it's sad when each art camp comes to an end? You are such a special woman to teach and inspire these young people. How I wish my children would have had you to fuel their artistic minds. xox

Deb~ Thank you so much!!! I'm always blown away at the creativity my students bring to the art table, they continually amaze and inspire me, and I am so unbelievably proud of them. It is sad when the camps come to an end...the final one was this past Friday and I'm having a slight withdrawal, I miss the kids...and the fun!My regular classes start up in two weeks though so I have that to look forward too.
I would've loved to have had your kids in my class! If you're all ever in town together, an art class is on me...for everyone, even Buffy T.! ;)
