Pastel Panda

Hello all, it's that time of year again...well actually, it's way past that time of year, as I've been busy getting ready for six summer art camps, the first of which starts one week from tomorrow, and this little pastel panda is my first completed project...yes, I did say first. I've had so many ideas swirling around my foggy head that it's been difficult to pick one and just go for it (creative procrastination strikes again). I finally, and very happily, chose to start with this little guy...he was so fun to make and I think the kids are going to have a blast creating their own pastel panda. He's drawn on black paper, then outlined in glue, then colored in with pastels...we'll see how that 'glue' part goes, some of the panda's might end up with cheetah spots...which would be kind of fun.
The panda is for the 'Around the World' camp...we're visiting China (hence the panda), Germany (cuckoo clock, that's next), and then either London or Africa...see, I'm still a bit muddled, maybe we'll just do both...can't decide. Well, off to Germany and the Black Forest to make the clock now and hopefully, I'll be running into some bears there too...German bears in 'lederhosen' of course!

Six camps? That's a lot of work. But also a lot of fun. Fun to create this beautiful Panda. I don't understand how you use the glue. I will try to find out. Maybe one day you and your kids will "visit" Holland as well?
;-)

Greetings and success from Geri

Can't wait to see what the kids come up with--and they will most certainly be inspired by this guy!

Geri~ You draw your image in pencil on black paper, trace over it with glue, let dry overnight, then color in with pastels...pretty easy, and super fun.
I actually have a Holland windmill picture that I've taught in my regular classes...but I love the idea of using it for one of my camps, thanks for sparking the idea, I'll do it! xo

Lynne~ Thank you, I've been so absent from blogging...going to try and be more consistent but with shorter posts. My mind always races with more to say and then I just run out of time...simplicity is my new motto, we'll see how that goes.
Our house is still a labor of love, work in progress...so much to tell there, won't be able to do a short post on it...such a story. I hope to get to it soon, it's a bit of a drama. Hope you are well...xo

Jacqueline~ Thank you, I know the summer will go by in a flash with all the camps...don't know what I was thinking, but it will be fun!
Happy summer to you...xo

Elizabeth~ I can't wait to see what they come up with too...it always surprises and inspires me! xo
